That Day

The Day was fast approaching.
The Day had finally come!
The Day from earth’s foundation
When the world would raise the Son.
He entered through the man gate
To live this life we know
To ransom back, with sinless blood
the hell-bound earthly soul.
Sorrow was His burden
And Joy His great reward
Soon face to face with sin and death
He overcame hell’s hoard!
A cross of cruel intention
Would that Day be lifted high
And the Wisdom of all ages
Would lay down to crucify.
Each stripe of cord and potter’s shard
Tore up His flesh for me
Each thorn of crown that drew the red
Became my ransom fee.
How could my soul stay silent
And from sin my soul not run
Into my loving Saviour’s arms
So grateful He had come.
I heard Him say, “The work is done; it’s finished; it is paid”!
You’re free to live with peace and hope
Throughout your earthly days.
I’ve conquered hell and robbed its graves
So you could overcome.
Now take my hand; I won’t let go!
I’ll show you how it’s won!
I took His hand, and never did He loosen slack on me.
I cannot fail, now Heaven has become my certainty.
When I reflect on what He did
And how He stays my way
The only thing I want to say is:
Thank you for that Day!

Two things I love to do—to write about, and to teach God's amazing Word—thus the name of this blog site: Wired for Word. For many years I have been actively involved in a number of church ministries: Women's Ministry, Helps Ministry, Bible teaching and pastoral care. My heart is to touch lives with God's Word—to express from heaven, words that are divinely purposed for you in your now season—words that have the power to heal, to unlock, to inspire, to encourage... and instruct. I pray they will be anointed words for an appointed time in your life. I truly hope that Wired for Word will become a part of your life—even if only for a season!
